Towns Win $700,000 for Building Energy Efficiency and Electrification On October 12th, Peterborough and Harrisville, in partnership with energy service company BlocPower, were awarded $700,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy to retrofit up to 250 buildings to replace fossil-fueled heating with heat pumps. One hundred of these buildings will be low income households, who will see energy savings.
The project will also increase the number of well-qualified energy auditors and heat pump installers in the region. In collaboration with Lakes Region Community College, MAXT Makerspace and ApprenticeshipNH, adults and high school students will become trained in these sought-after specialties.
